David Murmelstein was born in Czechoslovakia before WWII began. It was a democratic nation much like the U.S.
When WWII began in September 1939, Murmelstein's life was forever changed.
The Nazis invaded the Czech lands in March 1939
Like millions of Jews throughout Nazi-occupied Europe, David's family was forced to self-identify as being Jewish by wearing the yellow star on their clothing.
David's family's religious relics were all stolen for their metal content.
David was eventually deported to Auschwitz where he was forced to work under inhumane conditions.
David survived and has dedicated his life to helping educate about the Holocaust and helping Holocaust survivors.
